Is it arrogance?

‘I’m intelligent’

This simple statement can be perceived in many ways. How often are we quick to assume.

This is a feelingarrogance of deep pleasure in one’s own achievements or qualities or possessions. Where one is excessively conceited or absorbed in oneself; self-centred. Feeling they are the best of a group, class, society, etc. Where someone stands up tall and feels on top of the world because of their achievements and skills. This is known to corrupt, not being able to humble yourself in your manner leads to further corruption, i.e. arrogance.

This is to exaggerate one’s own worth or importance often by an overbearing manner. The feeling of being better than others and that they owe something to you.

This can be described as extreme selfishness, with a grandiose view of one’s own talents and a craving for admiration.

High self-esteem

Self-esteem is your overall opinion of yourself — how you feel about your abilities and limitations. When you have healthy self-esteem, you feel good about yourself and see yourself as deserving the respect of others.

Although narcissists feel superior to others they do not necessarily feel that good about themselves. In contrast, people with high self-esteem naturally feel good about themselves but do not feel superior to others.

This is excessive pride in or admiration of one’s own appearance i.e. fancying oneself. Those who can’t admiring themselves in the mirror and those who constantly take selfies.

A feeling of honour and self-respect; a sense of personal worth, where sopme people they are ‘it’. This closely relates pride but usually shown in any given moment, and triggered off by something. Whereas ride is a constant feeling of achievement and self-worth.

One boasts when he talks with self-satisfaction about one’s achievements, possessions, or abilities or otherwise, blowing one’s own trumpet. This can be expressed by achievement, confidence or proudness, just because someone is boasting, doesn’t mean they are doing so arrogantly.

This is the feeling or showing confidence in oneself or one’s abilities or qualities. This is being aware of one’s skills and abilities and expressing them respectively. It does not mean the person is arrogance nor full of pride.

Now look back at the statement I am intelligent and think of people who may use this term, are they actually arrogant?
